If you are a regular on Rajdhani or Shatabdi trains, you could have fewer items on your plate soon.

With a goal to make business profitable for caterers who have been reluctant to bid for the service, railway officials are planning to offer a leaner menu. On these trains, food costs are included in the ticket price.

Catering firms pay 15% of food revenues to the railways as licence fee.

Railways minister Pawan Kumar Bansal is likely provide details about food served on these trains in his upcoming budget speech.

Tariffs for Shatabdi and Rajdhani trains have remained unchanged since July 1, 1999.
