Magic of ‘The Sound of Music’ created at GD Goenka World School

GD Goenka World School, Sohna, organised the annual day of the middle school where students recreated the magic of ‘The Sound of Music’. The occasion was graced by sitar maestro Debu Choudhari and GD Goenka Schools vice-chairperson Renu Goenka.

The students gave a stupendous performance on the occasion which was hugely applauded by the parents. Principal Neeta Bali read out the annual report giving a broad overview of the achievements and activities in the year 2010-11. School director Satinder Kumar acquainted the parents with the new ventures started by the GD Goenka group.

Mayur Public School, IP Extension, celebrated its annual sports day recently. The chief guest for the occasion, IPS officer Ajay Chaudhary inaugurated the event. The students participated in various track and field events and also performed aerobics and ‘yoga -asans’. The chief guest applauded the efforts of students by giving away certificates and medals to the winners of various events. Principal S Rawat extended the vote of thanks to the dignitaries and audience.

St Paul’s School, Safdarjung Development Area, organised junior sports meet for Classes 1 to 5. Sahodaya School principal sister Elsie was the chief guest. The programme began with a welcome song, following which the chief guest unfurled the school flag and declared the games open. It was followed by the march past, lighting of the torch and the oath taking ceremony. Yoga display, dumbbell drill and bhangra dance were the key attractions. The winners of the various competitions were honoured with prizes.

Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, held the annual sports extravaganza ‘Jashn-e-Bachpan’. Ishant Sharma, member of the Indian cricket team was the chief guest and Ashok Chandra, chairman, DPS Society, also graced the occasion. Director of the school, Nina Sehgal delivered the welcome speech and around 750 students participated in the event. Ishant Sharma congratulated the teachers for their great effort in training the students. The event included drills, yoga, Disney parade, martial arts, gymnastics, circuit training and dance performances. Vice-Principal Rachna Gupta proposed the vote of thanks.
