A 26-year-old man from Bihar’s Bhagalpur district has been arrested for allegedly cheating people on pretext of selling cheap plots in Greater Noida area.

Afroj alias Afroj Ahmed, a resident of Khera village of Bhagalpur district, was arrested on the complaint of one Rekha Devi, police said on Saturday.

“Ahmed, who had an office at Vardhman City Plaza in the name of Ashiyana Property and Builders, had lured Devi and three others to invest in property and entered into an agreement to provide them plots in Greater Noida at cheap rates,” said Devesh Chandra Srivastava, Addl CP Central District.

Police said Devi had paid Rs. 10.12 lakh to Afroj, who neither got the sale deed registered nor returned the amount. Later, he even shut down his office and went missing.

During investigation, it came to light that Ahmed was running his office at Vardhman Plaza in the name and style of Ashiana Builders. He told the investigators that he had worked as a security guard and as a property dealer.
