A man sentenced to three months in jail for failing to supply his account books to a special auditor as per an Income Tax Department’s direction, has been spared imprisonment by a Delhi court and instead he was asked to pay a fine of Rs. 7,000. Additional sessions judge (ASJ) Pawan Kumar Jain waived the jail term of 36-year-old, central Delhi resident, Sanjay Kumar Garg awarded to him by a trial court. But the Delhi court had hiked the fine from Rs. 200 to Rs. 7,000.

The court set aside Garg’s jail term after considering his age, clean record and that he has been facing the trial since 2007.   PTI
