Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi is likely to target Robert Vadra — son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi — in his campaign following allegations by activist Arvind Kejriwal and lawyer Prashant Bhushan that Vadra and the DLF group are involved in multi-crore corrupt land deals.

The DLF group is one of India’s leading realty firms.

“The BJP demands an independent probe into these transactions. Why did DLF give unsecured, interest-free loans to Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra? Is it a quid pro quo? ... it is a serious matter,” said BJP chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad.

BJP sources said Modi was set to use the allegations involving Vadra as his fresh ammunition during his campaign.

Earlier, Modi had kicked off a row by alleging that Rs. 1,880 crore of public money was spent on Sonia Gandhi’s overseas visits.
