Even as his next step towards a wider national role is being anticipated, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi has set the ball rolling to ensure that issues pertaining to Gujarat are taken up aggressively in the budget session of Parliament.

Modi called a meeting of members of both Houses of Parliament from Gujarat last week and briefed them on issues he wants them to take up “aggressively” in the budget session.

“The CM flagged more than 100 issues he wants aggressively taken up in the coming budget session by the MPs in the meeting,” a Gujarat official told HT.

The demands are for central assistance, for increase of central funds where assistance is already there, approval for setting up institutions, and approval of applications for mining leases etc.
