Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal has been asked to replace Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi at the Wharton India Economic Forum (WIFE).

Modi was the first choice to deliver the keynote address at WIEF in Philadelphia via live videoconference. But it was cancelled, following the controversy it generated both in India and among the university faculty and alumni.

Earlier, Wharton’s move also provoked former minister and Shiv Sena leader Suresh Prabhu and industrialist Gautam Adani to pull out.

Kejriwal’s office confirmed receiving the last-minute invite and said the activist-turned-politician would speak at the event via videoconferencing on March 23.
