Five cases of rape, including that of a young girl, have been reported in the past two days from the Capital.
A 16-year-old girl was raped by five youths in outer Delhi’s Aman Vihar on Tuesday. Police said one of the accused was a friend of the girl, while the rest were his accomplices.
Investigators have arrested the friend of the girl, whom they identified as Monu.
Efforts are being made to nab the others accused, who are absconding after the matter was brought to the notice of the Aman Vihar police station on Wednesday.
The girl in her statement told the investigators that Monu ran a shop near her house in Aman Vihar. On Tuesday afternoon, she was out for some work when Monu dragged her inside his house and called his four friends. They took turns to rape her after threatening to kill her.
The girl went home and narrated the incident to her parents who in turn approached the police and lodged a case, an officer said.
In another incident, a five-year-old girl was raped by her teacher in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on Wednesday.
The police have arrested the teacher. She would go to his house for tuitions. On Wednesday evening, she returned home and began crying. When her mother asked her the reason, she narrated what had happened at the teacher’s place.
The Malviya Nagar police station was informed and a case was registered, following which Himanshu was arrested.
A 42-year-old woman has lodged a complaint at the South Campus police station and accused a retired colonel, her friend for the past five years, of raping her. She alleged that the 69-year-old had given her a glass of soft drink laced with sedatives.
The colonel was arrested after a case was registered following her complaint. The police said woman had been visiting his house for the past five years.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly raping a young girl in outer Delhi’s Kanjhawala.
The fifth incident of rape was reported from northeast Delhi’s Khajoori Khas area where a 22-year-old factory worker was held for allegedly raping a minor girl in his neighbourhood.
