Taking note of seriousness of situation in riot-hit areas highlighted by a group of advocates whose family members were affected by the violence which has claimed 44 lives, the SC rejected the state government’s plea that no orders be passed for the time being.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam disapproved of UP government’s opposition to involve the Centre on the issue of law and order in riot-hit areas of the state.
