You will now be able to register as a new voter or get your details corrected in the voters' list till August 2. Acting on a communication from the Election Commission of India, the chief electoral office of Delhi has extended the last date of the special summary revision exercise.
Delhi's chief electoral officer, Vijay Dev said, eligible voters who have not yet enrolled can register - physically or online - till August 2. "Summary revision is a special drive organised every year. The exercise not only aims at adding eligible voters, but those who are registered can get their details corrected on the voters list," Dev said.
He said the electoral office has kept draft electoral rolls at more than 2000 locations - including polling stations and regional voters' centres - where voters can go and check their details. People can file objections if they find any discrepancy in the voter list.
"We will individually look at the forms of addition, deletion and correction in next few days and will publish the final electoral roll on September 2," Dev said.
The electoral office had started the summary revision exercise on July 5.
"We have so far received 3,66,852 new applications of people who want to register as voters. Almost 1.40 lakh of these applications came online," Dev added. There is special focus on adding youth- who turned 18 not later than January 1, 2013 - and women.
