Nine succumb to blast injuries

Nine more people have succumbed to their injuries suffered in a boiler blast in a factory in southeast Delhi a week ago. Till now 10 people have died following the injuries received in the accident.    


A blaze broke out in a cloth factory in Tuglakabad Extension on January 25 after the boiler exploded in a cloth factory. At least 12 people were injured in the incident in which a woman died on the day of the incident.

"Nine more people have succumbed to their injuries in various hospitals in the past one week till yesterday," said a senior police officer.

The incident took place in the top floor of a four-story building owned by one Munna. Around 25 people were working in the factory at the time of the incident.

The deceased include Gauri Shankar (27), Amir (19), Alam (27), Mukhtiar (27), Nizamuddin (18), Raheez (18) and Lalti Devi (35). The deceased were being treated at Lok Nayak and Safdarjung hospitals. A case under charges of causing death due to negligence, causing hurt by an act which endangers human life, causing grievous hurt by an act which endangers human life and dealing with machinery so as to endanger human life have been registered in the matter. No arrests have been made.
