The Congress on Tuesday suggested that there was no difference between veteran BJP leader LK Advani and Gujarat CM Narendra Modi.
“Advani is more in age (than Modi) and one has to respect the age,” party spokesman Raj Babbar said when asked whether the Congress felt that Advani is more secular than Modi. As far as the difference between Advani and Modi is concerned, he said, “It is not for us to tell. It is time the media goes into it”.
Maintaining that the rumbling within the main opposition party was an “internal matter” of the BJP, Babbar, however, took a dig at the ‘Sangh Parivar’.
“The developments since 1925 show, be it 1942 (Quit India movement) or 1947 (independence), that these people are anti-political.
January 30, 1948, and December 6, 1992 (assassination of Mahatma Gandhi and demolition of Babri Masjid respectively) also show this.”
Meanwhile, in a terse reply to BJP, which had described ruling National Conference in J&K as a party of “father-son” duo, Omar Abdullah said the NC was controlled by the people, “unlike BJP which is remote controlled from Nagpur”.
