The first incident was reported from Aman Vihar, where a five-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her landlord’s 17-year-old son on Sunday afternoon.

According to police, the matter came to light after the girl’s parents approached the Aman Vihar police station and lodged a complaint against the juvenile son of their landlord. In the complaint, the victim’s parents alleged that they were out for some work when the son of their landlord lured their daughter to an isolated place and raped her.

“The girl returned home and told her mother about the matter. The mother immediately informed her husband and they approached the local police,” said a senior police officer. A case under appropriate sections of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, was registered and the victim was sent to a government hospital for medical examination.

The medical examination of the girl confirmed rape after which the accused juvenile was apprehended. He was produced before the juvenile justice board that sent him to observation home for boys. An NGO was roped in to provide counselling to the girl, said the officer.

The second incident was reported from Prem Nagar area near Alipur where a 20-year-old woman accused her live-in partner of raping her after promising to marry her. The accused, identified as Abhishek Gupta, 25, is untraceable. A case of rape was registered against him at the Aman Vihar police station on Sunday. The victim in her complaint told police that Gupta lives in her neighbourhood with his family and runs a garment shop in Prem Nagar area.

A few months ago, the woman met Gupta through a common friend. They fell in love and Gupta proposed marrige to her, which she accepted.

“They started living together at a house in Aman Vihar and Gupta established physical relationship with her. When the woman began pressuring him for marriage, Gupta refused. The woman filed a case against him,” said the senior officer.
