A 75-year-old Pakistani national, who had arrived in India on July 1 to meet his relatives, was drugged and robbed of cash and valuables by two members of a drug-and-rob gang in east Delhi’s Ghazipur.

The victim, a retired Pakistan excise department constable, was found lying unconscious on the roadside by a passerby who informed the police. Police said the victim, Mohammad Nabi, was drugged so heavily that it took him five days to regain consciousness.

According to police, Nabi had arrived at the IGI Airport on July 1 from where he had to go to Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh to meet his relatives. Nabi told police that he had to meet his grandsons at the airport. But since they could not reach airport, Nabi decided to leave for Moradabad on his own.

“Nabi reached Kashmere Gate ISBT where he met a man who told him that the bus for Moradabad leaves from Anand Vihar ISBT. He told Nabi that he was also going to Moradabad. They took an auto-rickshaw for Anand Vihar,” said a police officer.

On the way, the man told Nabi that he was feeling thirsty. Nabi gave him Rs. 50 to bring a bottle of cold drink. The man put the cold drink in two glasses and offered one of them to Nabi who became unconscious after drinking it.

“The robbers took away all the cash in Nabi’s pocket, both Indian and Pakistani currency notes, his passport, and three bags containing clothes and gifts he had brought from Pakistan for his relatives,” the officer said. The accused are yet to be traced.
