The police have arrested a former employee of Ponty Chadha for trespassing and criminal conspiracy.

Narender Ahlawat, who was injured in the firing that led to the death of the liquor baron and his brother Hardeep at Chhatarpur in south Delhi, worked for Ponty.

The police are likely to file their chargesheet on Saturday.

Ahlawat was present on the day of the incident when the brothers were killed at a disputed farmhouse at south Delhi’s DLF Chhatarpur Farms during a gun-battle.

“Ahlawat was present at the spot on the day of the incident and was part of the conspiracy to forcibly occupy the property at Chadha’s bidding,” said an officer, justifying the arrest.

The shootout had been reported on the morning of November 17 from Farm No. 42 located on the Central Drive at DLF Chattarpur near Mehrauli.

Sukh Dev Singh Namdhari, one of Ponty’s associates and former chairman of the Uttarakhand minorities commission, had brought a number of armed men to assist the liquor baron in the smooth takeover of the disputed property.

“Ahlawat had been injured during the gun-battle and had been rushed to the Medanta Hospital in adjacent Gurgaon for medical treatment,” said the officer.
