Production warrants against accused

A Delhi court on Monday issued production warrants against five Delhi serial blasts accused, who have been taken to Gujarat for their alleged role in the synchronised terror attacks in Ahmedabad.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjay Bansal sought the presence of -- Mohammed Saif, Zeeshan Ahmad, Mohammed Shakeel, Zia-ur-Rehman and Saquib Nissar -- before the court on November 24 after the Delhi Police Special Cell submitted that the accused were presently in Gujarat.

All the accused are wanted in New Delhi for their alleged involvement in the serial blasts at Karol Bagh, Connaught Place and Greater Kailash (Part I) on September 13.

The serial blasts in the Capital had claimed 26 lives and injured several others.

The Gujarat police had on October 27 secured their custody claiming their involvement in the synchronised blasts in Ahmedabad.

They claimed that the five suspects were amongst those who had planted the bombs in the Ahmedabad city on July 26, that claimed 56 lives and left scores injured.

Mohd Saif was arrested following the Batla House encounter in Jamia Nagar in south Delhi on September 19 while Zeeshan was arrested on the same evening from Jhandewalan area in Central Delhi where he had gone to give an interview to a private TV channel.

The other three accused -- Shakeel, Zia-ur-Rehman and Saquib -- were arrested from Shaheen Bagh here on September 20.

All the accused have been booked under various provisions of the IPC, Explosive Substances Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
