On popular demand, the celestial wedding of Lord Balaji with his consorts Laxmi (Sridevi) and Padmavati (Bhudevi) would be held for the fourth consecutive time in the city on Sunday. Venkateswara College will turn into a celebration ground. Large-scale arrangements for it, including a replica of Tirupati temple, are already underway.

For the Kalyana Mahotsavam, processional idols made of panchadhatu and embedded with precious stones would be brought to Delhi from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams of Tirupati.

Prof Dr Venkat Reddy, secretary of temple’s Dharma Prachar Parishad, said, “It is a metaphor for the marriage of a human soul  with the divine. That is why we replicate this from among the several rituals of the Tirumala temple.”
