The Supreme Court on Monday declined to entertain the petition of self-styled godman Ashok Jadeja, accused of duping people of several crores rupees in different states, seeking transfer of cases at one place.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan said the relief sought by Jadeja cannot be granted.

Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the accused, has submitted that since the cases were registered in different states, it should be transferred to one place and investigated by a single agency.

Realising that the court was not in favour of providing any relief, the advocate preferred to withdraw the petition. Jadeja was arrested in Ahmedabad by Gujarat police in June this year following complaints that he had duped people by inviting investments from them on promise of high returns.
