With no land available in central areas, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has decided to create an activity hub in the far-flung Ghoomanhera, Najafgarh.

The hub will house a herbal garden, hospital and an ayurvedic college. The corporation has also decided to build a construction waste recycle plant in the area that will convert waste into bricks.

"We have a lot of space for development in rural areas. So, we are focusing on Ghoomanhera. Apart from developing it as a medical hub, we will build sports facilities such as a stadium," said Rajesh Gehlot, chairman of standing committee, SDMC.

He announced this while presenting the budget before the House on Friday. The civic body has earmarked Rs. 75 crore for development.

Apart from Ghoomanhera, the corporation has set aside a chunk of its budget for developing other rural areas. The money will be spent on building roads, dispensaries and polyclinics. A mini stadium and a dispensary will be built in Kakrola and Bijwasan, respectively.
