St Mark's, Meera Bagh hosts Swedish delegation

St Mark's Senior Secondary Public School, Meera Bagh, hosted Cecilia Ottersten Nylund and Kajsa Broenkvist, lecturers from the Central Administration Department, University West, Trollhattan, Sweden for a week. The aim of their visit was to initiate a collaborative effort and model possibilities for teachers and students of both institutions to benefit from each other's strengths. They interacted with the teachers and students of the school about teaching methodology in Mathematics, English and Social Science and also didactical teaching aspects.  They met the school chairman TP Aggarwal and principal A Aggarwal and presented their proposals for consideration and future implementation.

Dev Samaj Modern School No.2, Sukhdev Vihar, organised a Literacy Mela under the aegis of Delhi Schools Literacy Project (DSLP) for the learners of the slums. The Mela was followed by several cultural activities performed by the slum learners throughout the day. Several stalls of games based on literacy were put by the participating schools to motivate the learners. One of the star attractions of the Mela was the stall put up by the Old Springdalian Association where they sold old clothes and toys at extremely subsidised prices. To encourage the learners and to sharpen their creative skills, several competitions were also organised. School's chairperson Swadesh Sharma addressed the gathering. Chief guest Kusum Vir, director, Directorate of Adult Education, Ministry of HRD, Government of India, appreciated the efforts laid by the school and congratulated the principal Manoj Madaan and his team for making event a grand success. The other distinguished guests present were Rajni Kumar, honorary advisor of DSLP and other members of DSLP.

Balvant Ray Mehta Vidya Bhawan, Lajpat Nagar, celebrated its annual sports meet. Chief guest Satinder Kaur, regional director education, lauded the efforts of the students and gave away the prizes for their performance in various co-curricular activities. Principal Lalita Kharabanda and the headmistress Sunita Bhatia welcomed the august gathering and appreciated the efforts put in by the teachers and students in presenting a spectacular show. The highlights of the events were the march past, hoop drill, yoga, Japanese dance and umbrella dance. Manager RK Wadhera proposed the vote of thanks.
