Having returned to his family and friends after 12 days of being in Maoists' custody and recuperating for two days, Sukma district collector Alex Paul Menon is ready to join office from today.

Announcing that he has resumed charge in Sukma from today on Twitter, Menon also thanked everyone for their support and affection.

"Thnx 4 all ur support ,In 32 years of my life I have not earned mny but people and affection , Its a grt moral support fr me 2 continue here," he tweeted from his account @alexpaulmenon.

The Sukma DC also expressed grief over the killing of the two people, Amjad and Kisun, who were travelling with him on the day he was kidnapped.

"I am back safe and at home trying to recoup... Am still shattered and disturbed because I loved those two boys Amjad and Kisun," he tweeted.

"Amjad n Kisun were very affectionate to me and so was I to them..Memories of these two boys are making me sleepless :(," he further wrote on his timeline.

Menon wants to meet Amjad and Kisun's families and help them get back to normalcy after their loss.

The 32-year-old was "shattered" that a kidnapping could take place in such a "brutal fashion".

"Am also shattered because I could not ever imagine that the kidnapping would be done in such a brutal fashion."

Alex Paul Menon, a 2006-batch IAS officer, was taken away by the Maoists from the villagers meet organised at Majhipara near Kerlapal at gun point on April 21. He is the first collector to be abducted by guerillas in Chhattisgarh.
