One may not be able to track the change in Mary Kom's expressions on a phone call, but the sudden change in her voice gives away the fact that her face must have lit up when asked about Teachers' Day celebrations at her school.

And though the Olympian fumbled while recalling the name of her favourite teacher, she said she liked her science teacher at LCM High School in Moirang, Manipur the most. "I used to admire her a lot," she said.

As to how their school celebrated Teachers' Day, Kom said, "We used too sing and dance with the teachers. Sometimes we dressed up as teachers and taught junior classes. For me, teachers are next to God."

She also told HT that her five-year-old twins were planning a fun-filled Teachers' Day.

"Their class is organising a party," said Kom, who studied at the LCM School till Class 6 and then went to Moirang's St. Xavier School for Classes 7 and 8.
