The trial court hearing the 2G spectrum case will decide on the bail pleas of scam accused on October 17. The court on Saturday said it can decide on the bail pleas only after it frames charges in the case. Responding to the arguments, Special CBI Judge OP Saini said, "I want to complete
the process of framing of charges by October 15. Fix bail pleas for October 17."

Delay in the bail hearing has already caused uproar in the courtroom as counsel of the accused have blamed the CBI for deliberately delaying the process of framing of charges since August, thereby hindering the order on the bail pleas.

The Supreme Court on June 20, while dismissing the bail pleas of Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar, had said such pleas could be taken up only after the charges were framed.

Earlier during a hearing, senior advocate Sushil Kumar, who represents Kanimozhi and former telecom minister A Raja, said Raja would not attend the hearings until the agency clarified its position on the status of the probe.

"I do not want any time. I am not going to argue till CBI DIG SK Palsania and SP Vivek Priyadarshi are called here to clarify their position," Kumar had said.

Appearing for Sharad Kumar, advocate Altaf Ahmed said he was going by the SC's directives.

The court will hear arguments on the bail pleas of A Raja's former private secretary RK Chandolia, Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Balwa, directors of Kusegaon Fruits & Vegetables Asif Balwa and Rajiv Aggarwal and director of Cineyug Films Karim Morani on October 3.
