Two more suicides were reported in the Capital in the past 24 hours.
Depressed over his deteriorating health, a 50-year-old Delhi police head constable (HC) allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house in southwest Delhi’s Baba Haridas Nagar on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Vedpal; he was posted in police control room (PCR) in southwest zone.
Police said the incident came to light around 10pm after Vedpal’s family members found his body in the bedroom and immediately made a PCR call. Though no suicide note was recovered from near his body, the head constable’s family said he was depressed because of his poor health.
“Vedpal has had health problems for the past 10 years. For the past some days, he was not coming to work either. He is survived by his wife and three children,” said a senior police officer.
The second incident was reported from West Patel Nagar where the decomposed body of a 31-year-old IT professional was recovered from his rented flat on Monday night.
Police suspect the deceased, identified later as Sushil, consumed poison. But they are waiting for the autopsy report to ascertain the exact cause of his death. They have not ruled out the possibility of a heart attack.
A senior police officer said some neighbours noticed a foul smell coming from his flat and informed the police. They later told the police that the house had been locked for the past three days.
Sushil, who had been living in the same house for the past three years, was a native of Moradabad in UP. He worked as an engineer in an IT company.
