The BJP on Friday said the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government would fall after the winter session of Parliament.

Addressing a rally of the party’s women’s wing at Jantar Mantar in the Capital, senior party leader Arun Jaitley said the government was insensitive towards the common man.

Jaitley said, “This is the most corrupt government in the history of the country. The only people with the Congress are those who have reaped the fruits of their corruption. This government has not spared any section of the society — from shopkeepers to housewives, everyone is affected. The Congress’s objective seems to side with their party and defend their family members,” he said.

Another senior leader Sushma Swaraj said, “Relief will come only when you get rid of this government. Their biggest ally Mamata Banerjee has left them. Others are ready to leave. The government won’t last after the winter session.”

BJP leaders criticised the government for price hike, including that of LPG cylinders and rise in power tariffs.

They said the people would reply by pulling the UPA out of power in the coming polls.

Among those who addressed the gathering included Delhi BJP president Vijender Gupta, BJP leader Vijay Goel and Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly VK Gupta.
