If you’re undecided about where to intern this summer, ‘working for the country’ just opened up as an option.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) — the political outfit floated by activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal — is looking for interns who “know how good politics can change India”.
The party’s appeal to students reads: “Would you like to do an internship/summer project that can give you a sense of accomplishment and not just as a formality?”
Party leader Manish Sisodia said that within 24 hours of the announcement, AAP received “more than 500 applications, including from Texas and Harvard University”.
The interns would participate in research projects, including AAP’s signature exposes called Pol Khol.
“They will also visit people during street campaigns and encourage youngsters to enroll their names in the voter list,” Sisodia said.
To apply, students need to fill a form and write down their opinions on key issues concerning the nation.
But don’t do it for the money. While the interns will get a ‘certificate of excellence’ at the end, AAP will not provide any reimbursements.
“Our appeal is to dedicate summer vacations to the cause of the country,” Kejriwal said.
