Bhupinder Singh Vohra, who is currently based in Kathmandu, was arrested from Sounali Border in UP's Gorakhpur on specific intelligence. Vohra, who has a R50,000-reward on him, was wanted in Delhi for his involvement in two cases of extortion.

Vohra, who hails from Nainital, is involved in cases in Delhi and Uttarakhand and other states under the National Security Act. He is also wanted for murder, attempt to murder and extortion.

"He is also associated with underworld dons, namely Chhota Rajan, Aijaz Lakarwala and Bharat Nepali. Vohra is involved in 15 cases, including two in Delhi," said deputy commissioner of police (special cell) Arun Kampani.

Last year, Vohra had threatened two businessmen with dire consequences if they did not pay him R50 lakh each.

"Vohra and his alleged sharpshooter Prakash Pandey had been running an extortion racket for the last several years. Several businessmen succumbed to their illegal demands and paid them, fearing threat for their lives," Kampani said.

According to the police, Pandey was also a hitman with Chhota Rajan and was recently deported from Vietnam. He is now in Mumbai police custody. Uttarakhand police has declared a reward of R1 lakh for his arrest as he was evading arrest in a number of extortion, attempt to murder and abduction.
