A 19-year-old woman, who was employed as a domestic help in south Delhi, on Thursday alleged that she was drugged and gang-raped by three men in a moving car and then dumped in a field.
Police, however, said a medical examination on the woman said she was not sexually assaulted. But they registered a case of poisoning and gang-rape on the basis of her allegations.
The victim was under the influence of sedatives when she was found on the pavement near Nanakpura Gurudwara in south Delhi’s Moti Bagh, in a semi-nude and semi-conscious condition.
The woman claimed that she was offered a lift in a silver car by its driver near Chirag Delhi area where she had gone to meet her brother around 10.30pm on Wednesday.
On the way, the driver picked up two of his friends.
“In her statements, which have contradictions, the woman claimed that the car driver left the vehicle asking his friends to drop the girl at Defence Colony. However, they drove the vehicle towards Vasant Kunj from where they picked up a third person,” a police officer said.
“The trio asked the woman to join them at a party at Gurgaon but she refused. They later took her to a guest house in Gurgaon where she was given cold drink laced with sedative. The woman fell unconscious. When she regained consciousness in the morning, she found herself dumped in an isolated place,” said the officer.
The woman made her way to the main road and stopped an auto-rickshaw. As she was under the influence of sedatives, she could not give the driver a proper address, who dropped her near Nanakpura Gurudwara.
Police are verifying her allegations and are trying to reconstruct the sequence of events.
