In yet another incident of gangrape in the capital, a woman was criminally assaulted by four friends of her husband in northwest Delhi.

Two of the accused were arrested on Saturday while the others were absconding, police sources said.

The incident took place on Thursday when the 20-year-old woman, a resident of a slum cluster in Sultanpuri, went searching for her husband as he had not come home for sometime.

She went to the house of Sanjiv alias Sanju, a friend of her husband, to ask whether he had come there.

However, Sanjiv pulled her into his house where three of his friends Monu, Honey and Ramu were already present.

The four then allegedly assaulted her for several hours before letting her go.

The woman registered a complaint with police on Saturday morning after which Sanjiv and Honey were arrested.

Efforts were on to trace Monu and Ramu, the sources said.

The woman's husband is a bus conductor and had gone away from his house as he was mentally disturbed.

The gangrape had taken place on the same day a 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by eight men in Najafgarh in south-west Delhi.

In May, a Delhi University student had been abducted and gangraped in a moving car and last month, a pregnant woman had been similarly assaulted in Mayapuri in southwest Delhi.
