Trolls - mischief-makers on the internet - have uploaded a Kerala girl's photograph on Facebook as that of the Delhi gang rape victim, much to the dismay of her family.
Following a complaint from the girl's father, the cyber cell of Kerala Police has initiated a probe and written to Facebook for removing the photograph, which has been widely circulated in the last couple of days.
N Vinayakumaran Nair, assistant commissioner of police, who heads the Hi-Tech Crime Enquiry Cell, on Thursday said, "We wrote to the site. The picture should have been removed by now."
Police are confident of unearthing the source of the mischief.
The girl's family was informed about the misuse of her photograph by a relative in Delhi.
