Reckless and hi-speed driving on Gurgaon expressway has rendered one 27-year old man struggling for his life in a private hospital with very bleak chances of survival.

Victim Bir Singh, a resident of Chankaya Puri, was on his way to celebrate birthday party of one of his friends in his Maruti Suzuki Alto car on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday when a speeding Hyundai i10 car rammed into his car from behind on the Iffco Chowk flyover.

He was rushed to Paras Hospital in Sushant Lok where he has been put on life-support system.

A Maruti Omni van too had been hit and one woman too got injured in the accident.

"I am told my son was driving the car in moderate speed when a Hyundai i10 car rammed into it from behind. The condition of my son is very serious and chances of his survival are minimal," the victim's father Buta Singh said.

"The doctors have declared him brain dead, but we have asked the hospital not to remove the life-support system till his last breath," he added.

He has also accused the police of shielding the real culprit. "As per my knowledge and preliminary investigation, it was someone influential and related to a business family who was driving the car when the accident took place. The police have arrested two persons who look low-profile people," Singh added.

The police, on the other hand, have claimed the two persons arrested in the case were the ones who were present in the Hyundai i10 car that rammed into Alto.

"We have initiated the investigation and would come out with more facts soon," said a police official.
