Yuvraj Singh battling cancer
Cricketing star Yuvraj Singh, Man of the Tournament in the 2011 World Cup, has been diagnosed with a 'mild' form of cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy in a hospital in Boston, US.

It is learnt that Yuvraj, who was out of action most of last year because of ill-health, has lung
cancer but it's curable.

A source in the hospital said the 30-year-old left-hander's condition is not serious and he is expected to take the field by April. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/HTEditImages/Images/06-02-12-metro1.jpg

"It's a mild form (of cancer) and is completely curable. Not only is Yuvraj going to the gym, he goes for walks regularly."

Jatin Chaudhury, the cricketer's physiotherapist, said the cancer was detected in the first stage itself.

"The doctors decided Yuvraj would have to undergo chemotherapy immediately as parts of the tumour are just above the artery of his heart, which could have burst while running. But it's 100% curable," Chaudhury said.

Yuvraj went to the US after playing some fitness matches at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore last month. Check-ups done there raised concerns and he was sent to Boston.

In October last year, Yuvraj's mother Shabnam Singh had said a "golf ball-sized" tumour had been detected in his lungs but it wasn't malignant.
