According to the police, the victim, identified as Parvati Yadav, has sustained 27 stab wounds. She has also sustained grievous injuries on her neck, said a police officer.

"I had stopped my car near a jungle in Aghapur village to attend the nature’s call. Suddenly, three unidentified armed men attacked my wife and tried to rob her jewellery. They stabbed her with a knife.

When I reached there and tried resisting them, they even attacked me. I ran towards the road and shouted for help, seeing which they fled without the jewellery," said Shravan Yadav, the victim’s husband. He has registered an FIR at the Sector 39 police station.

The victim is recuperating in the ICU of the Kailash Hospital, Noida. Doctors have described her condition as critical.

Meanwhile, the police have not been able to record the victim’s statement. They also suspect the role of her husband in the case.

"The victim is a resident of Delhi, while her husband is resident of Sarfabad near Sector 63. They got married two years ago, but had a disturbed married life.

The couple had been living separately for the past two months. Parvati had shifted to her Delhi house. Shravan Yadav had brought her back on Thursday itself when the incident took place," said a senior police officer.

The police are not ruling out the possibility that Shravan could have attacked his wife and plotted a robbery story. Parvati’s family members have not yet filed any complaint, the police said.
