Chandigarh: model and wannabe actor alleges rape

A city based model, who is married and has a child, alleged that she was raped by a Sangrur resident on the behest of making her a heroine in Punjabi movie.


Acting on the complaint the police have registered a case in sector 3 police station against Gagandeep, who was not arrested by the police till late night. 

The accused hails from SAS Nagar and had allegedly threatened the girl at gunpoint to keep silent. 

Giving details the police source said the 30-year-old woman was staying in a paying guest accommodation in sector 23. The victim claimed she had high hopes from the person who had promised to give lead role to her in the Punjabi movie.

Narrating the incident, the woman alleged that she was raped in a car behind Sukhna Lake. The woman also claimed that she was raped after she was forcefully made to consume liquor. The victim alleged the dose of liquor was so high that she did not know what happened to her.

She had met the accused at about 7 pm on Sunday. He took her in a Fortuner car to the market of sector 10 and later sector 15 where they both had beer. She then added that they both went near Hotel Mountview before going towards Sukhna Lake. The woman alleged she was raped after the car was parked in a deserted place behind the lake.

The victim said she had worked in a few modeling assignments in Mumbai. The woman also had a dispute with her husband and had met accused Gaganpreet, a film producer, about two months back. Gaganpreet, according to the woman, had claimed to be in touch with some movie directors.

The police sources said the woman claimed the accused dropped her home in an unconscious state. After gaining consciousness she realised that she had been raped. The medical examination conducted on her confirmed rape.

The girl has not provided the vehicle registration number and the police are making efforts to track the accused through mobile phone location.
