Labour minister Shish Ram Ola has instructed the labour secretary and ministry staff to donate one-day salary for relief work in Uttarakhand and also asked officials to fast track settlement of all claims of Provident Fund, Pension and Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance submitted by the families of persons affected by the floods in the mountain state.

The Employee Provident Fund Organization has already contributed R1 crore to chief minister’s relief fund, besides food items and other essential materials like woolen clothing, footwear, blankets and rain coats.

“A total of 22 ton relief material is being sent through seven trucks,” an official release said.

“I extend my sympathy to the families of those who have lost their near and dear ones,” Ola said in a statement.
