A woman and her eight-month old daughter were killed and her son critically injured as they allegedly jumped in front of a running train near Ramahari Nagara level crossing here, police said on Sunday.
While the bodies of the 25-year-old woman and her daughter were recovered from the railway tracks, her 3-year old son was admitted to the MKCG medical college and hospital after the incident yesterday, they said.
The condition of the boy was stated to be critical. The deceased were yet to be identified, police said adding the woman apparently wanted to commit suicide along with her two children.
The boy was speaking Telugu but “he is quite traumatised and not in a position to give much information,” said a doctor.
‘We are trying to establish their identity,” railway police sources said.
