Over 100 children fell ill after they ate food served under the mid-day meal scheme at a school in Jehanabad district of Bihar. This is fourth such incident in the district within a year.
The incident took place on Thursday in a middle school at Tilkai village in Makhdumpur block of Jehanabad, 50km south-east of the state capital. Soon after consuming the meal, children started complaining of stomach cramps. All of them were then rushed to a hospital at Makhdumpur. Jehanabad DM Balamurugan D said the school had claimed that drops of phenyl, used for cleaning floors, got mixed in rice, causing the children to vomit.
The DM said he had ordered a probe in the incident.
