The body of the child had been found in a tank on Thursday. According to police, the girl was murdered after some criminals failed in their rape bid.

We have rounded up several boys of the locality and grilled them. The victimfs body bore injury marks in her neck. Perhaps she was strangled to death, said Ahmed.

We have identified the main culprit and he will be arrested soon,h he added. According to sources, a local boy is said to be the prime suspect in the case and is traceless since Thursday. gHis cell phone was found switched off, said the police.

A team of forensic experts on Friday visited the crime scene and lifted blood splotches and fingerprints from the spot. Meanwhile, the family of the deceased is in a state of shock. Why someone chose to kill my innocent sweet daughter?

Haunts the mind of girlfs father Vidya Jai Kumar alias Sagar, who is a railway loco pilot in Katihar division. He was inconsolable when the body of the child was being handed over to the police for post-mortem.
