The Patna High Court on Monday deferred till July the regular bail application of RJD MP Mohammed Shahabuddin who is sentenced to life imprisonment on charges of kidnapping, in a stolen vehicle case.

Justice Ghanshyam Prasad, while deferring the bail petition, ordered the Siwan court hearing the case, to complete the trial within a month.

The judge passed the order after hearing Shahabuddin's counsel YV Giri and state counsel S Dayal.

The petition seeking bail would be heard after the summer vacation, he said.

The controversial MP has more trouble in store with the prosecution filing a fresh petition in the special court in Siwan seeking recording of fresh evidence in the abduction and murder of CPI-ML activist Munna Choudhary.

Shahabuddin has been sentenced to life imprisonment for Choudhury's kidnap.

He is currently facing 33 cases of which chargesheets have been filed in 29 cases and charges framed against him in eight other.

The cases pending against him include those of murder, attempt to murder, possession of illegal arms of foreign make, unaccounted foreign currency and violation of the wildlife act.

Another case was registered a couple of days ago charging the MP with possessing cell phones in violation of jail manual.
