MU syndicate approves PG courses in several colleges

The syndicate of Magadh University (MU) has approved launching of new post-graduate(PG) courses in about a dozen of constituent colleges from the academic session 2013-14.

It also approved some undergraduate and PG diploma courses to fulfill the demand of students of those localities. The syndicate's decision, based on the  recommendations of affiliation committee and academic council will now be placed before the annual senate meeting slated on March 3.

MU syndicate chaired by vice-chancellor Arun Kumar on Monday approved PG teaching in chemistry, economics, philosophy and Hindi in RLSY College, Bakhtiarpur, economics and history in JNL College, Khagaul, sociology, political science, psychology, geography, botany and zoology in Jagjiwan College, Gaya.

The meeting further granted permission for PG teaching in political science, psychology, Hindi, English, mathematics and physics in TPS College, English, Hindi, Urdu and botany in SS College, Jehanabad, M Sc in Information Technology in Gaya College and PG diploma in mass communication besides B Com in BS College, Danapur.

MU meeting in-charge MS Islam said, the syndicate also approved honours teaching in sociology and commerce at SMSD College, Sherghati, BCom in JNL College, Khagaul, B Ed and B Lib in AM College, Gaya and B Sc IT in ANS College, Barh. Similar courses were also approved for some other colleges.

The MU syndicate approved the annual budget of Rs. 429 crore for the financial year 2013-14 that would be placed before senate for final sanction.

Islam said, the meeting constituted a high level committee including syndics Ramdeo Rai, Narendra Kumar, Neeraj Kumar besides some university officers and representatives of teachers and non-teaching employees' bodies for holding a meeting with the education department and apprise the government with the financial problems like payment of full salary and pension.

The meeting also decided to prepare for introduction of semester system in under graduate courses from the coming academic session, added Islam.
