The Bihar government has decided to frame a new policy for contractual recruitment of employees in different departments. No further appointments will be made till the time a revised policy is put in place.
However, the order banning fresh contractual appointments would not be applicable to such employees, who have been absorbed after their superannuation from government service.
Also, the new policy will not affect such employees, who are currently working and are appointed to contractual posts.
In 2007, the state government had formulated a policy to appoint officials on short-term contract or for a limited period in view of acute shortage of officials and staff.
To make the new appointment policy foolproof, the government has decided to amend the existing contractual appointment policy of 2007.
So, it would be prudent to appoint new personnel on the basis of the new policy being drafted by the government, an official of the general administration department said. Informed sources said, secretaries of various departments were in the process of finalising the new policy for the contractual recruitment in state.
In technical departments such as engineering and medical colleges, appointments would be made on the basis of their merit and performance, the sources said.
As per the proposed there would be examination for recruitment contractual basis would be selected of their performance examination.
