Patna school teacher charged with molestation, held

A teacher of a premier school in Digha area here was arrested on Tuesday on the charge of molestation.

Police said the victim student was appearing in an exam of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) being conducted at the private school.

The accused teacher allegedly called her near the toilet on the pretext of providing some answers.

The girl, a resident of Shastri Nagar locality in the state capital, said when she went there, the teacher outraged her modesty and also made an MMS. She also alleged that he threatened to upload the MMS on a social website if she disclosed the matter before the police or her parents. The girl later lodged an FIR against the teacher at the Women police station in this connection.

DIG (central range) Sunil Kumar directed Patna SSP Manu Maharaj to investigate the matter properly.

Later, DSP (law and order) Vivekanand and a team of women cops went to the school and investigated the matter. In course of investigation, they found the matter to be true.

On Tuesday, the police conducted a raid and arrested the teacher for allegedly misbehaving with the girl student.

Sources said angry locals staged a protest demanding his immediate dismissal.

Police said as per reports the teacher had been warned many times, but to no avail.
