Puducherry’s education minister, who had used a proxy to write his class X exams recently, faces possible arrest. A probe by senior education department official of the Tamil Nadu government has confirmed that the minister had used an impersonator.
Kalyanasundaram, a class X drop-out had opted to sit for the exams to complete his education.
Tamil Nadu education minister CV Shanmugham said on Saturday evening that an IAS official had conducted a probe into the allegations against his
Puducherry counterpart. Now a complaint against the minister has been lodged with Villupuram police by the district education officer. The complaint also names the minister and two others who allegedly helped him use the proxy.
According to sources in Puducherry, Kalyanasundaram had gone incommunicado amid reports that Tindivanam police from Villupuram district were in the union territory to question the minister.
“Action will be taken against those involved in this,” the Tamil Nadu education minister said. While the Puducherry minister had earlier alleged victimisation by his political opponents, the AIADMK, the Puducherry CM is under pressure to drop him.
