Muslims inmates exempted from labour during Ramzan

Punjab jails minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur has directed senior officers of the department to ensure adequate facilities to Muslim prisoners to perform their rituals and exempt them from hard labour during the month of Ramzan, starting on Tuesday.

The minister said the prison department had also been directed to coordinate with jail superintendents and sub-jail deputy superintendents to supervise arrangements on a day-to-day basis.
