“Whatever the opposition does or plans, nothing can push FDI backward. The government is ready to deal with the opposition but at all cost will back FDI," he said.

Gandhi was addressing students at Panjab University, Chandigarh. He also asked students for their support to FDI.

Interacting with students, Gandhi said that FDI was to make farmers get their due. Supporting foreign direct investment Rahul Gandhi said that it was time that farmers understood their importance and stood up for their right. He added, “The famers are being disillusioned by the opposition on FDI issue and its time that farmers get educated about their rights and on things which will yield them benefit”.

Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by Congress leaders Captain Amarinder Singh and Sunil Jakhar.

The leaders used the stage to come down heavily on the Opposition. Rahul Gandhi, Singh and Jakhar criticised the opposition and said that Punjab was in a way being ruined by the ruling government that was not paying attention towards its youth that is heavily into drugs. Being an agriculture state he focused on showing FDI in a bright light to the students present.

Continuing with his talk in favour of FDI, Rahul Gandhi further mentioned that since the opposition was not capable of anything they will not even let others to work for the benefit of the nation. He said the opposition was expert in creating hurdles in the way of Congress. “Every time we (Congress) plan to do work for the benefit of the nation, may that be land acquisition bill, FDI or anything else, the opposition without even realising or understanding the benefit of same, comes up to oppose it. Politics should not be for ones own benefit rather interest of the nation should be kept in mind”, added the Congress General Secretary.

Rahul Gandhi urged the youth to come forward and join politics. He especially encouraged the girls and said with girls occupying high posts in politics, the future of women of the nation in politics looked really bright.
