As Leader of Opposition Vasundhara Raje planned a meeting with BJP MLAs ahead of the Rajasthan assembly session, party chief Rajnath Singh’s camp appeared gripped by anxiety over the possibility of she refusing to quit in defiance of the parliamentary’s board’s “decision.”

Singh reportedly warned her not to indulge in a show of strength but Raje called a meeting of the party MLAs on Wednesday — to discuss issues to be taken up in the assembly session, beginning from Thursday

Singh discussed the issue with his team of office-bearers while his aides made it clear that the party chief was not amenable to her demand that suspension of two BJP MLAs be revoked before she demits office after the session is over.

Any defiance of the board’s decision would force Singh to act against her, they said.
Raje had met Singh and L.K Advani three days ago to discuss the fate of the MLAs who were suspended for rallying in her support –despite the board’s decision that she must quit as directed by Singh.

The board had approved a formula under which Raje would get a “honourable exit” by choosing her timing of resignation. Singh had announced that she would be free to decide when to go.
