Richama Panwar’s only fault was that she was talking to her friends in the classroom.

The seven-year-old student of Nobel International School is now admitted to a private hospital for ear surgery.

The incident took place on July 16.

The family reported the matter with the school administration and sought action against the teacher, Alok Nayaar. “But, the school administration refused to listen to us," Richama's father advocate Pawan Panwar alleged.

After the talks with the school failed, the family lodged a complaint with the Subhash Nagar police station on Wednesday night.

Detailing the incident, advocate Panwar said, "My daughter’s left cheek was all blue when she returned home that day. She complained of a severe pain in the ear. We rushed her to the doctor where her medical tests showed that her left ear had only 30% hearing capacity."

Richama said she pleaded with the teacher not to beat her up, “but he dragged me by the hair and slapped me hard.”

School director Dalpat Singh Rathore, said, “A teacher has no right to beat a student in any class. We always warn our teachers of not using the third degree method. If my teacher did it I condemn him."
