Violence marred student union elections of Jai Narayan Vyas University in Jodhpur as three students and a policeman were injured after clashes broke out between rival groups. Clashes broke out in different areas like Old Campus, K N Girls College and Mohanpura Pulia during the elections.

The turnout for the polling remained abysmally low as several students did not participate in the voting following violence. A turnout of 44.95 per cent was recorded in the election, chief election officer Sudhi Rajeev said.

In Mohanpura Pulia, a clash broke out between two groups in which three students were attacked by knives. One of the students received serious injuries in the attack, police said.

No arrest has been made so far. There were also reports of stone pelting in Old Campus and police resorted to lathi charge. A police man and one other were injured in the stone pelting.
