Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) media in-charge Gaurav Virmani has said that tickets for Sachin Tendulkar's last Ranji Trophy match against Haryana at Lahli village in this district have been booked.

The four-day match between Haryana and Mumbai that starts from October 27 will be a curtain-raiser to Tendulkar's last two Test matches against the West Indies. The master blaster will play his 200th Test match at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium in November.

"Tickets will be given to those who have got themselves registered with officials concerned at the Lahli stadium," Virmani told HT on Tuesday. The stadium has seating capacity for nearly 8,000 people.

Last week, BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry had told the media that people from Lahli and nearby villages would be given preference while allotting tickets. Rohtak parliamentarian Deepender Singh Hooda had also said that preference would be given to residents of nearby villages.

Officials of the BCCI and district administration, however, said on Monday that people whose names had been registered with them would get tickets. Villagers questioned that since the stadium was closed all the time, when were the names registered.

Rajesh Dhankhar of Karontha village said he had been visiting the stadium daily since the day he learnt that Tendulkar was scheduled to play here. "Not a single official from the BCCI or the Haryana Cricket Association has entertained people's demand for tickets," he said.

Sources said that anticipating huge crowd for the match, the BCCI's stand that tickets had been booked was a ploy to keep people at bay in view of security reasons.
