Police directed to provide CRPF protection to 3 CBI officials

The Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate court today directed police to provide CRPF protection to three CBI officials investiating the case relating to the death of Sampath, a murder accused in police custody in march last year. The officers had approached the court for protection stating
that there was threat to their lives. The CJM, B Vijayan, directed police to provide them pistols and 6 CRPF personnel full time for their security.

The court also directed them to file the progress report of the case to the court directly. Sampath, the first accused in the murder of sheela, a housewife in palakkad, was found dead afterhe was taken into custody by police on March 29 last year. There were over 60 injuries on his body.

On a petition by his brother, a cbi probe was ordered by the high court. Fourteen policemen including a DYSP and Circle Inspector, are accused in the case.
